Re: Courier
Ok a bit late in the day however, I have just pushed up exports of hi, med, low LOD files and an updated model file. I have not had time to create a mod for this so not 100% sure it is "right".
Either way it is up in Github if you want to take a look.

Hi All,
A few more tweaks and a mod! Please find a mod (courier.zip) in the exports folder of my courier repo. Everything looks fine in the model viewer apart from:

A few more tweaks and a mod! Please find a mod (courier.zip) in the exports folder of my courier repo. Everything looks fine in the model viewer apart from:
- The lighting on the front gear doors looks off (guessing it is something to do with those objects having altered local axis)
- Im not sure the normal is working as expected - I cant really see it on the model
- Couldn't get the viewer to recognise the shield

Re: Courier
Sorry for the delay. It looks really good. Not sure why the shading issue on the geer bay doors, might be a problem with the normal map, or with the smooth shading settings. Try adding an Edge Split modifier to it.
I can't really tell if the normal map works, I'll have to double check that.

Thanks Noz,
That was it! I had not applied the edge split modifier on the gear doors - they now look like they should (pushed).
p.s. CouldI get someone to take a couple of screen shots in the model viewer for the thread? My ancient Mac won't capture the screen with the model viewer running :)

Re: Courier
Yeay!! Thanks :D
Some background blurb:
The Skipjack is a heavy-courier manufactured by OKB Kaluri.
The Kaluri design team's primary focus was that of operational reliability and
survivability with every contingency considered to ensure the Skipjack's
consignment arrives at its destination safely and on time.
This philosophy is observed throughout the Skipjack's design from triply
redundant avionics and life support systems to paired thrusters minimising the
impact of critical failures and the subsequent need for mid-flight EVA repairs.
While all but the most determined pirates are kept at bay by strong shielding
and respectable offensive capabilities.
The Skipjack's redundancy, however, comes at the price of maintenance with
servicing and overhaul costs way above other ships in its class.
Although most larger corporations and operators of Skipjacks keep their fleets
in good condition, smaller operators and sole traders often neglect their
Skipjack's redundant systems allowing them to fall into disrepair - something a
would-be buyer aught to be wary of.

Re: Courier
Sounds good to me. But I thought that the Courier is a working name, not the final one. I think it should be named. Their naming scheme is of fishes. There's a list of a few on the wiki for example.
Something not too agressive. Maybe something with endurance.
Unless you want to hand the ship over to Haber, but it's way too good looking for them. Even though it has bits of shape language that would work with them.

Some approximate suggestions to inspire you for your blewrb:The Courier's primary philosophy is that of operational reliability and
survivability with every consideration contributing to ensure the Courier's
cargo arrives at its destination safely and on time.
- "cargo" <-> "payload" (or does "payload" only refer to weapons?)
- "every consideration contributing..." -> "with every contingency considered to..."
and last paragraph:
- "buyer pays to be wary of" replace "pays" with "aught". Having the word "pays" right next to "buy" makes one misinterpret the word until the sentence is finished.

Re: Courier
Haha! That is fair. I had become so used to referring it to as The Courier :)But I thought that the Courier is a working name
Yeah, sorry, that is me just modelling whatever pops into my head without any consideration to the game's visual design.... Haber is a bit unloved but I think it dosnt quite fit there. To be honest Im happy for to place it where ppl think best. Now that I have picked up the bug again, I will see about tackling a project for Haber next...Unless you want to hand the ship over to Haber, but it's way too good looking for them. Thanks Impaktor :) English was never my strongest subject at school. Embarrassingly, my other half is not a native english speaker and corrects my grammar all the time. It all sounds great in my head until I write it down. Very much appreciate your input (and happy for more of it!).Some approximate suggestions to inspire you for your blewrb
Payload works but is context sensitive and might not fit with a vaguely combatish orientated ship - I will have a search for a better word."cargo" <-> "payload" (or does "payload" only refer to weapons?)
yup"every consideration contributing..." -> "with every contingency considered to..."
also yup - makes sense"buyer pays to be wary of" replace "pays" with "aught". Having the word "pays" right next to "buy" makes one misinterpret the word until the sentence is finished.
I still need to sort out the normals, shield and stats...
Cheers Guys!
