Taking a leave of absence

Post by jpab »

This week I started my new job in London. I have a ton of stuff to learn, and it's going to take me a while to get used to the commute (I haven't lived or worked in London before) and the work and my new life. As a result of this I'm not expecting to have any time for Pioneer for the next few months at least. I've never been a very prolific contributor anyway so I don't expect this will affect things too much, but I wanted to let you all know in case someone pings me and gets no response.

I hope I'll still be able to catch up sometimes with what's going on, but please make sure nothing is blocked waiting for a response from me.

Git history begs to differ, you're second largest contributor, matched only by robn. Your spot on bug analysis and code reviews will be missed in the meantime. Hope to see you back here again, when you are able.

Good luck with your job, (and with your thesis as well)!

And may a thousand procedurally generated stars shine upon your new career!

Good luck with the new job John. If you can minimise that commute then do so, it can really suck out the fun after long enough.

We'll try and keep the places tidy whilst you're away but I hope you get time to come back soon :)

Maybe a laptop for coding on the commute? ;)

Good luck, and have fun on your new job!
Also, don't forget about your ship. :) Maybe it will be waiting for you when you return.

Background story:

Code: Select all

<jpab> haven't got the PhD yet though :-/
<jpab> I'm still writing. By which I mean I'm avoiding writing because I'm an
       incurable procrastinator.
<jpab> I do have enough content that I should be able to complete the thesis,
if I can find some motivation somewhere.
<impaktor> jpab: congrats! [22:06]
<jpab> thanks!
<nozmajner> I'll model you an exclusive ship when you complete it, if that
            motivates you :D [22:07]
<impaktor> yay!
<jpab> nozmajner: that would be awesome :-)
<nozmajner> you want a luxury jacht or a SUV? [22:08]
<jpab> yacht, definitely
<nozmajner> ok :) [22:09]

I'm hijacking this thread to announce I now live in Norway, and currently without Internet and phone in my new place, so I might have some "down time" in my pioneer presence the comming weeks (starting from tonight).
