I tweaked this low orbit track so it follows up the west coast of North America in daylight - so lots to see
with good visibility.
This save for [pioneer-20140107] parks the Wave-e in orbit around Earth with limited fuel and no autopilot.
The only assets you have is $0.62 in cred at the bank, a scratched ship with only a cargo scoop, scanner and
atmospheric shielding. Think of it as an 'intermediate level' game start position.
The Mission
A transport carrying valuable cargo recently suffered a hull breach, littering cargo containers in low Earth
orbit. You have been tasked with clearing this navigation hazard and are free to keep any salvage you are
able to collect.
The official cargo manifest from the damaged transport lists these items as missing:
5 Precious Metal cargo containers
4 consumer goods cargo containers
3 water cargo containers - (convertable to fuel)
[/url]
Screenshot of where the save starts you in orbit.
Choose your salvage carefully since beyond a certain range cargo items will be lost.
Once collecting as many containers as you can, you have the option of flying to Gates Spaceport on available
fuel or try to land back on Earth to sell your salvage for more cred$.
Compare your strategy and time to collect all possible cargo items. Try to dock or land at a base within
your available fuel range.
If you want to make it tougher on yourself - you can set a delay before attempting to retrieve any cargo items.
Alternatively, avoid any refueling from the water cargo containers.

This save file has been tested with Pioneer vers.20140107 and may or may not work with later versions of Pioneer
(This save file also requires the Wave-e ship mod) vers3 has updated config and different pattern01.

After adding the wave-e ship mod, simply put the above save file into your Pioneer game save folder and load the
save game titled "Wave-e CargoScoop & Landing Challenge".
Additional note:
For pioneer-20140107, Once a single 1 ton cargo container is collected, it may appear in the cargo roster as
multiple tons. (due to a known collision bug issue) - or consider it a temporary bonus - until fixed ;)
Good luck pilots!

Re: Cargo Scoop & Landing Challenge
Cargo scoop and landing challenge 2 (update)
Similar to the 'intermediate' challenge above - but with a higher difficulty level.
This is an update with the initial fuel level at 0.16, reduced even further down to 0.02 to make capture of the water
cargo even more crucial to success. The water is now also placed at a greater distance from your ship even though the
label is no longer visible, the cargo remains targeted.
This save for [pioneer-20140107] parks the Wave-e in orbit around Earth with bingo fuel (vapors only) and no autopilot.
The only assets you have is $0.62 in cred at the bank, a scratched ship with only a cargo scoop, scanner and
atmospheric shielding. This is more of an 'advanced level' game start position.

able to collect.
The official cargo manifest from the damaged transport lists these items as missing:
5 Precious Metal cargo containers
4 consumer goods cargo containers
3 water cargo containers - (convertible to fuel)
The 'advanced' version makes you late to the salvage party.
A number of the cargo containers have become either irretrievable lost or have already impacted upon the planet surface. Of the few containers remaining in orbit are those with Precious Metals, Consumer Goods and at least two carrying water.
The actual number of available containers in orbit is unknown - but will not exceed 12 containers so keep an eye on your scanner and scan around your ship - leaving labels on.
Your fuel level is at critical, and your ONLY hope for a safe landing is to chase down and scoop up any water
container you can find, enabling you to refuel your ship.
Once you have topped up your fuel reserves, you can retrieve any remaining cargo containers and attempt to manually land or dock at an available starport.
The Wave-e now has the moniker of "Fly-Boy" ;) for those who are able to complete this advanced piloting challenge.
Note: Cargo container labels disappear beyond 1000km range, even though they may still remain in orbit.

Re: Cargo Scoop & Landing Challenge
Update to advanced challenge to make it still tougher. :)
Added note:
For advanced challenge2 update:
To put fuel level at 0.02 into some time perspective, it equal about 40secs of main engine burn.
AKA, use your main's wisely.

Re: Cargo Scoop & Landing Challenge
Drifter Racing Challenge
Moniker "e-racer"
You have entered the Terran Global Drift Racing Challenge, the object is to circumnavigate the planet along the equator in a West to East trajectory. Going from East to West is also an option, but will require more pilot reflex and ship maneuverability since each robot cargo buoy will then be traveling towards the racer as opposed to traveling in the same direction if racing from West to East.
Robot buoys have been placed along the equator at equidistant locations in rough geostationary orbits - approximately one every 950km at an altitude of 7684.50km. Each buoy is traveling at a speed of 7.20kms to maintain orbit. Minor positional drift of the buoys are expected over time. Due to this drift factor, the start of any racing challenge is encouraged to occur as soon as possible.
Since the robot orbits are fairly stable, it is actually possible to land your ship, refit it to your liking or change to
an entirely new ship, then go back into orbit and still observe the orbiting bots.
If you want a destroy as opposed to capture option - outfit your ship with a laser weapon to vaporize any robots in orbit.
(Please remember: Delays to race start may affect path and distance between the orbiting robot buoys)
To start to the race, carefully place a reference cargo container near the first robot buoy (liquid Oxy) for example.
Note: Dropping a reference cargo container is not required if the race objective is to capture/collect all robot cargo
buoys.
As you collect the robots your mass will increase, reducing your manueverability.
Since there are at least 50 tons of robot cargo containers that may be acquired over the course of the race. Fuel
consumption will also be affected each time mass is collected.
(Your ship includes a few onboard cargo items that can either be ejected into space prior to the race or used to add
additional buoys or markers to the track)
Note: Cargo container labels disappear beyond 1000km range, even though they may still remain in orbit.
Time Trials
Check your start time, and when ready, start the race. Pick up or fly within close proximity of the robot containers to
stay as close to the orbital track as possible.
Using your optional reference of liquid oxy cargo container as the finish line, will allow you to more easily compare
your lap times against any previous race attempts and results.
Good luck racers!
Here is a small patch that temporarily changes pattern01 of the Wave-e to that of racing stripes whenever it is added to the Pioneer mod folder alongside the Wav-e mod. Link: https://www.mediafire.com/?1ncwh85i5zw24co
