I put together a rough thingy for Haber corp: https://soundcloud.com/user-211556926/h ... ic-complex
I guess generally simple, monotone electronic tunes are what I will be pursuing.

That has a bit of an ominous feel to it (edit: maybe even bordering on dystopian), which I think is fitting. The bit of discordant notes at the beginning threw me off a bit, but when I turned the volume down to what I'd probably have the music volume set to in game it seemed to fit much better.

This is a bit more experimental tune. With some further refining, I'm planning to play something like this if the ambient music ends while the player is at a Haber Corp. ground station (so it will be the BGM while they are browsing BB or markets). Same with CIW and SolFed. In the end, the stations should have the atmosphere of whatever faction they belong to.

Good stuff!

I didn't know you were into death metal (from 03:55 to ~06:00):

or is it my mind bending your song into this?

Hmm, thinking about it, I suspect Entombed stole that riff from some 80s horror movie, can't remember which

I'm planning to create a new category called "map-view". Songs there will play if the ambient music ends while the player is on sector map, system map or system overview. So it won't trigger much at all. I might change the trigger mechanism if I figure out how to pause a track and keep going where it left off... and of course once there are numerous tracks to actually make it worth changing the trigger mechanism.

I will try to keep this style for the populated regions, but if the player is far outside populated bubble, the tone will be more of an ambient soundscape rather than a music track.
