Thanks nozmajner.

Also, I'm gonna copy-paste my comment on GitHub to here because I think it belongs here:

It would be nice if we had music modules for some mission types, which would override the default player. For example when the player finds the broken ship in a SAR mission, we don't need to play a suspenseful track (the player knows that the ship is not hostile); but in most other encounters we do need to play it (because most deep-space encounters are hostile).

Will not music triggered from a mission script override the system music?

Umm... Dunno, but most probably yes. I didn't mess so much with the mission modules yet. I was just writing down what I had in my mind. Because that's going to take time and effort if I find some time to get myself into this.

I started creating some short tracks to play when the player jumps into an unexplored system with a rare stellar object, so it will feel like the game "acknowledged" that you've made a noteworthy discovery, such as a black hole, a neutron star (which Pioneer still doesn't have) or an unstable hypergiant or sth along these lines.

They still sound ambient because we don't want the game to suddenly go "Tadaah!" for our discovery.

Recently I've got my hands on various new VSTs (Virtual Studio Technology (synthetic instruments, basically)) and I started re-exporting piano tracks in higher quality. I think they are more pleasant to ears now. I would like to replace our old tracks with these, but if you say I should stop tampering too much with Github for the sake of file history, I can leave it be.

Here's a comparison of two of the tracks, for example:

I will take that as a "go ahead" if no one objects within a few days.

I listened to them. I don't have any real opinion. I wonder if it will be time for pioneer to soon move to git LFS?
https://git-lfs.github.com/

that discussion should probably be in a thread on its own...

If you want piano tracks recorded on a real piano, I have an acoustic piano that plays MIDI. It's a mere console, but if the arrangement is good it sounds all right. Here's a recording a piece composed and hand-played by a friend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMCAjo2G8FY
