question about manual piloting (deceleration)

Post by loopernow »

Hi,

I'm completely new to this type of game and I've got it in my head that I want to be able to fly manually between destinations. I understand that when it's time to decelerate, it's best to point your ship away from your destination and use your main thrusters to slow down.

Here's my question: Is there a way to use the Flight UI to know when you're pointed away from your destination? The way I'm doing it now is by using the external camera and eye-balling it, and that seems like a crazy way to pilot.

You can switch to the rear camera. Numpad 2 by default.
