Aega???

Post by CMDR ARGHouse »

I was going through the moons on Jupiter in my Sol extended file, revising the ice cover and metalicity percentages of all the moons when I came across Aega. I can't find it online, or in Space Engine? Is it a real satellite of Jupiter or fictional?

Hmm, it seems it was me, but quite a few years ago. I can't remember where I got the orbital data or the name.
Good catch! Feel free to fix on master!

Also the metallicity value, is it referring to surface metallicity, total metallicity or core metallicity.

I think it is surface. At least it needs to be high for the Mining laser to get you anything of value. But I'm not sure if I'm correct about any of these.

Metallicity is essentially a "catch-all" scalar for crust metallicity used in other calculations that does not have any particular physical basis for its values. It's a 0..1 value indicating the distribution between light and heavy metallic elements in the crust.

Ah crust metallicity, I was using core metallicity values from Space Engine... ooops.
