Take your space liner crash, that's going to involve a lot of escape pods, also the system it happens in will suddenly find it's medical resources stretched so the value of them will go up for a while afterwards.
I'm reluctant at having more things that change commodity market. One could have a news that is "ship last heard from in system X, <someone> fears the worst" and you can go and see what has happened, although that sounds to me like a search and rescue mission, and should probably be that instead.
Maybe instead of having dead news we need to have a list of suggestions for things that could happen in the game. Then all news will really be news and we can act on it?

These are very good ideas. I was thinking it would be easiest to to just display dead news, as it would liven up the universe. It would help feel like stuff is happening, even if nothing is. That said, if you guys would rather have only news that actually does stuff, all the better! It just seems like a lot more work.

When I tried to do a copy paste on one mission type in the JSON, the game crashed. All I did was copy and paste an existing line, changed the number, and edited the text. It was a no-go.

Also, I'm very interested in writing for Pioneer, be it news articles, missions, back story, whatever.

News like this liner crash might indicate increased number and prices on taxi mission in/from the given system due to people not trusting space liner companies for a while.
