Ship damage and death

Been playing Frontier lately and there's something really missing in Pioneer that is great in Frontier. When you severely damaged another ship, they start to leave behind a trail of debris and particles. And when you kill them, the explosion, is visceral, it looks like the ship broke apart and the explosion seemed pretty realistic for space. Compare that to Pioneer where there's some debris but it looks kinda weird and the explosion is just a fireball and the ship popping out of existence. It would be nice to spawn some jagged shapes of the relatively same color of the ship.
