Re: New ship by BobtheTerrible
I have a question about cockpits. As I recall, it was deceided that they would not be allowed in the game's stock ships to keep the poly count low. Ships in the game now have a yellow area where the "glass" would be. In my opinion it detracts from the perceived realism of the model. Nozmaj...

Re: Autopilot behavior with closeby ships around
I had a similar experience, colliding at the waypoint. Upon arrival the base was full, so the autopilot waited at the waypoint until someone took off and plowed into me. Some traffic control enchancement seems to be needed. Also, the police response is way out of line in this situation. In most part...

Re: HUD and UI ideas - mockups
Skydive, I've tried out your cpanel icons from Jan 6. I know it's just for practice but I must say I like it. It's legible and functional and matches the UI fairly well. One quibble, the glow or reflection at the top of the scanner area makes the distance and speed information harder to read. I thin...

Re: [SUGGESTION] Atmospheric density indicator
The atmospheric density and temperature that a hull could tolerate would be a good way to differentiate between cheap and expensive ships. Regarding landing on gas giants, I've done the land on Venus thing where you stop above the atmosphere, lower your landing gear and the atmospheric density slows...

Re: Bulletin Board feedback and suggestions
You're doing excellent work. The title of the post suggested suggestions, so here's one. It's probably UI related, but it would be nice if when you press F2, F3 or F4, and it brings you to an info screen, continuing to press F2, F3 or F4 would cycle through the tabbed options at the top of the scree...

Re: Do we actually *need* atmospheric shielding?
I've never really like the Frontier model of atmospheric shielding. Adding something that weighs 1 ton regardless of ship size to reduce heat buildup. What is it? Invisible hull plates? A force field generator? We already have shields. Perhaps the current shields could help reduce damage, but I'd ve...

I have the same issue with my GTX 460 too. The drivers are about a year old.

Re: Time acceleration
We may all be hardcore Sci-Fi nerds but I don't think that realism should dimish gameplay. Your ideas are really good and may not actually change the player's experience very much if we can get another notch or two of time acceleration. The ships would all have to be redesigned as tail sitters beacu...

Re: Factions - writing and background discussion
I was thinking about how a police action might occur in an anarchy system. I don't think there would be a dedicated police force with their own ships. Instead you'd have ships piloted by rugged individualists who would come after you if you offended them in some way, each by its own volition. The of...

Re: Explosions
While a model for each damaged componet seems excessive, I remember the particle trail that streamed from a damaged ship in FE2. When I damaged an enemy it was like tasting first blood. Because the AI wouldn't let them quit, I've seen ships that were a ball of fire still trying to attack. The idea o...
