I have just heard that sound does not propagate in void space. Maybe outside atmospheres we should not be able to hear enemy explosions and their weapons, but in general only the sounds produced within out ship. Both in open space or in the canyon of a planet I had hard time approaching ships for rescue because of darkness. Of course we have instruments to go blind, but how about a switch for lighting the 50-100m ahead of the ship?
