Re: 3D cockpits

Most aircraft in flightgear that have extremely detailed models with switches and buttons and you have to handle all of this to start it up, have a menu entry saying "Autostart". It automatically puts the aircraft into a flight-ready state. I like the concept of being able to do everything...

Re: Replacing the Big Crappy Station

Why should the inner of the docking area be pressurized? Spaceship make a lot of noise and a lot of waste (toxic gases and similar). Air in the shipyard would only make sense if there are very serious works done but not all the time. Doors still make sense since little meteorites could come through ...

Re: Runways

Runways in space don't really make sense. An aircraft needs a runway because it needs an airflow over/under the wing to fly. It can't simply break and float down, it would crash. So runways are actually just breaking paths to allow an aircaft to hold the speed until down to the ground. In space it w...

Re: More hooks for animations

When something is accelerated there is always a same force in the opposite direction.
So there can be recoil from plasma/energy weapons since plasma isn't weithless and compressed plasma could be quite heavy.

More hooks for animations

It would be good to have more hooks for animations like: [*]on_land -> Animation when docking like opening cargo door, cargo ramp [*]on_start -> Animation when undocking like [*]on_atmosphere_enter -> Folding down wings, supplying heatshields and similar [*]on_atmosphere_exit -> Folding up wings, re...

Runways

Since we have vehicles with wings and wheels we should have some spaceports with runways. Gliding spacecraft use less fuel and so cities aren't polluted so much. The docking free could be lower. Basically the runway could be a runway model with some hangars which are the docking ports. Only winged s...

Re: SoundFx updates

Don't forget that there are no sounds in space. The spaceship can of course conduct sounds, so laser sound, hits, thruster vibrations and similar can be heard. But a missile that is flying away can't be heard anymore. In my opinion your sound is still okay because it sounds like the rocket starting ...

Tweak values

Some things that have to be tweaked: -Size, some ships look too small and some too large -Acceleration (semi-opional), noone can survive 30G. 12 G should be maximum for medium and large ships, tiny fighters may have special fighter pilot suits that keep organs in place and working. There is a fast g...

Re: Hyperspace

Men-made hyperspace beacons would be cool. Finally a proper use for a navigation buoys. I think a buoy that can send its position over thousands of AU must be very expensive. Maybe only systems with more than 5 or equal high numbers of starports can have one. Of course there can be exceptations like...

Re: Hyperspace

Hyperspace is sometimes a bit too easy when the police is behind you. When you realize that the police is too strong, just hyperjump until the alarm status is taken back. Even with the gravity limitation - the police is also in space station far away from gravity. Maybe a warmup phase would be usefu...
