Re: Ship Design - Barracuda Long Range Tug
Hi all. These last few weeks have been a bit of a mess for me in terms of shifts (I am a Ground Crew dude at an airport), so I haven't been able to do some UV on the tug yet. Next week will be much better, so I'll try to get something rolling... One question btw, I have applied the mirror modifier i...

Re: Ship Design - Barracuda Long Range Tug
Ok, all fixed.
New collision mesh, layer 5, tight as can be! :-)
Starting with the UV, but will have to look into your presentation again!
Any other good UV tutorials I should watch?
Also, given that the ship is only about 10K tri's, does it make sense to create a low LOD model?
Thanks!

Re: Ship Design - Barracuda Long Range Tug
Hi again. Couldn't be as fast as I wanted for a reply, but here it is, finally. - Redid the weapon so it now is mounted on the nose, just a simple laser cannon. - Access panels now have some padding as per suggestion. - Added two more RCS at the bottom. - Added the "thruster" and "thr...

Re: Ship Design - Barracuda Long Range Tug
Hi again! Thanks for your support nozmajner! Can't stop now, it's like an addiction! So here is what I've done for this version: http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j39/pbar14691/HTug23Front_zpspxkvbk1g.png - EVA door is now recessed. - Moved "harpoon"/cargo scoop doors to the bottom of the ...

Re: Ship Design - Barracuda Long Range Tug
Hi nozmajner. Again, thanks for that. This is what I've updated and why: - Engine nozzles update to match Lunar Shuttle. Indeed they even look better! - Hole around the retro thruster. I forgot to update that one when I angled the front of the nacelle, that's why it look so weird. Done. - Door frame...

Re: Ship Design - Barracuda Long Range Tug
Hi again. Here are the most recent changes: - Nacelles are a bit bigger, and shape has changed at the front - RCS placed, they should keep the axis correct now. - Triangular windshield removed - Rear porthole removed - Landing gear smoothed - Dual comms and sensors elements added - Headlights added ...

Re: Ship Design - Barracuda Long Range Tug
I know, but in order for the design to make sense, i cannot place them there.FluffyFreak wrote:We don't currently have the ability to rotate engines - although we would accept a patch if a coder wanted to add that feature!

Re: Ship Design - Barracuda Long Range Tug
Wow, I'm slow with response. :) Yeah, the nacelled one looks better in my opinion. Maybe you could play with the nacelle shape a bit, like make it less tall on the front. I agree, the nacelles are still work in progress, so anything goes! The RCS placement looks good to me, but I'd also put some on...

Re: Ship Design - Barracuda Long Range Tug
Hi all. Made some modifications to the design, as per suggestions: - Engines. Bigger, and detached from the main hull. Can now swivel a full 180 - Docking Collar. Moved to the top so it doesn't interfere with the engines. Connects to the cargo bay. - Reverse thrusters. Moved to the main engines stru...

Re: Ship Design - Barracuda Long Range Tug
Hi nozmajner. First of all, BIG THANKS for having a look and sharing such good comments!! I have to tell you that this is great, because as soon as I posted the topic and reviewed it, I immediately started nitpicking on it myself, on the sames issues that you've nitpicked in your post! That's great ...
